Mesuthan is a graduate of Balikesir University's Department of Tourism for Tourist Guides, and is MT Sobek’s foremost Turkish authority for hiking, exploration, and culture. He is widely regarded as one of our favorite guides and has a wonderful demeanor with tremendous leadership qualities. His latest notable adventure was summiting Mt. Ararat with fellow MT Sobek legend Sergio Fitch-Watkins! Mesuthan is excited for the return of our Turkey programs, and looks forward to an exciting new chapter of fun and exploration.





Ozlem Ozgoren
Ozzy is a native of Turkey and loves to share her knowledge of the country’s history and culture as an adventure travel guide. In fact, she has guided in all areas of her country and especially enjoys meeting Americans, after spending a number of years studying in the United States (both in Missouri and Miami). In her spare time, Ozlem pursues her interest in wildlife and sings in a chorus.





Serra Somersan
Serra is a native of Turkey, a graduate of Ege (Aegean) University, Department of Classical Archaeology, and a certified graduate of the Turkish Ministry of Tourism’s guide program. Her post-graduate studies have included study in her profession at Lecce University in Italy, and courses at the Middle Eastern Technical University to becoming a qualified diver. During her studies, she worked at the excavation site of the ancient city of Antandros, located in the ancient Troas region.

Turkey's cuisine is vibrant, colorful and flavorful! There is an abundance of healthy and delicious options in Turkey, including soups, stews, assorted kebabs, mountains of bread, kofte (meatballs), pide (Turkish pizza), olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, salads, lentils, rice, yogurt soups, and more.

Is Turkey safe?

As of April 2019, the U.S. State Department has issued a travel advisory Level 3 for Turkey, advising that travelers avoid certain areas. This trip does not travel through or near any of those areas.

Is Turkey an Islamic country?

Islam is the largest religion in Turkey. Turkey is also a secular country, and there is freedom of religion. The Turkish Government recognizes three minority religious communities: Greek Orthodox Christians, Armenian Apostolic Christians and Jews.
